FAQ: Is the Hamingja Membership Only for Norse Pagans?

Here we answer two frequently asked important questions:

Hi! I’m wondering if the content provided will specifically be about Norse paganism, or will it branch out? Also, what is the process for making sure what’s being released is authentic?

Thank you for your question. An important one!  No, the Hamingja membership does not ”only” teach Norse/Germanic paganism. At the core of Hamingja is the understanding that all Indo-European pagan traditions share a common root — the Proto-Indo-European worldview and mythology. Long before the Celtic, Norse, Balto-Slavic, Hellenic, Vedic, Anglo-Saxon or Roman traditions emerged in their distinct cultural forms, there was a foundational spiritual and cultural framework they all evolved from. (You can learn a lot more about this in first episodes of the Hamingja Podcast.)

That’s why Hamingja teaches Indo-European spirituality by first focusing on what these branches have in common — their shared structure, worldview, cosmology, ritual logic etc. Because when you understand the original foundation, it’s actually much easier to make sense of your own branch — whether that’s Celtic, Norse, Vedic, or another.

Then, from that solid ground, we can begin to explore the individual cultural expressions. We don’t blur them together — we honor each tradition’s identity by showing how it connects to the root, but also how it developed uniquely in response to place, language, and time. If I for example know what the original and oldest ritual looked like, and that the Vedics used rice as an offering while in the west they were using barley, then it’s much easier to also honor one’s own pagan branch, and understanding the bigger picture. This approach is unique — no one else online is doing it quite like this. Most platforms either isolate the branches completely or mash them into a vague, modern neo-pagan blend. We do neither.

And when it comes to authenticity; it all comes down to a couple of things –

1. We continuously study the sources

2. We do not only rely on the sources, but study surrounding and supporting fields of study, like history, history of religion, comparative theology, archaeology, linguistics & etymology, anthropology, cultural studies, comparative literature/literary studies and many many other fields.

3. We know many experts in various Indo-European spiritual branches, listen to & discuss with them personally, read their works, and they will also appear on the Hamingja platform, giving masterclasses.

So in short — Hamingja respects the diversity within unity. We honor the root and the branches, without collapsing them into a soup. That’s how we keep the integrity of each tradition alive, while also understanding the powerful story they all share.
