General prayer to use when approaching a spirit of the place
O Spirit of this place,
hear me! I call to you and ask for your presence.
Come close and hear my words.
How fair is your dwelling!
The wind is your breath,
the earth your altar,
the living song of birds your hymn.
Blessed is this place you guard,
the beauty of it is a shrine in itself.
I come to you with respect and reverence.
I come as a guest, and greet you as a guest greets a host.
Accept this [offering / gift / libation / song / my words / my love etc]
as a token of my gratitude and respect.
In stillness and in sound, in shadow and in flame of day,
may frith, guest-friendship and blessing be between us.
